Terms of service

Last updated November 6, 2026. These terms cover the VolcanoNow iOS app, this website and VolcanoNow text and call alerts, provided by Bababoi Lab.

The service

VolcanoNow shows the activity of Kīlauea volcano using public USGS information and webcam imagery, and can send alerts when that activity changes. It is provided as-is for general information. It is not an official warning system: always follow USGS, Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and local emergency guidance.

Text and call alerts

How you sign up is described on the text alerts page. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

Posts and community guidelines

Signed-in users can post photos and short notes from viewing spots. Posts are public. By posting you agree that:

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Anyone can report a post or block a user in the app. A post reported by several people is hidden right away; reports are reviewed, objectionable content is removed and users who break these guidelines are removed from VolcanoNow.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, VolcanoNow is not liable for any loss or damage from using, or being unable to use, the app or its alerts.
